Langa Township

In South Africa, township is the underdeveloped urban living areas for black and colored Africans from 19th century until the end of the apartheid. Townships were originally the dormitory towns for men brought into the cities to work.

Langa is the oldest township in Cape Town and was the location of much resistance to apartheid.
